HSE trainer

The Role

• Provide training and assessments as needed to meet the specific needs of course participants, and employ appropriate training techniques to achieve positive learning outcomes. Aiming for >90% course participant evaluation results 
• Contribute to the development of industry training packages, ensuring that in-house training meets the competency and capability assessment frameworks defined by relevant industry standards and accrediting bodies' competency assessments. 
• Conduct course participant evaluations and determine compliance with pre-requisite criteria in accordance with key client requirements. 
• Assist in the development, modification, and enhancement of training materials as needed to ensure the accuracy and relevance of training Ensure that internal training meets or exceeds principles like 'ISO/IEC 17024 Conformity Assessment - General requirements for bodies operating certification of persons,' Industry Standards, and accrediting bodies competency assessments. 
• Provide satisfactory training reports of course participant evaluation to allow department and business unit managers to act on any areas identified for improvement or to manage the consequences of candidates deemed unsuitable for high-risk tradecraft engagement. 
• As needed, conduct workplace verification of competence assessments. Ensuring that course participants follow training curricula and competence regulations 
• Coach and mentor site management and supervisors to ensure they understand and adhere to competency and capability training needs analysis and training delivery criteria in accordance with Company HSSEQ Management Systems (e.g. HSSEQ Competency Management Procedure) 
• Carry out job-related responsibilities as assigned 
Authority to Make Decisions: 
• Autonomous authority to determine trainees' competency and capability skill to ensure compliance with Company HSSEQ Management Systems (e.g., HSSEQ Competence and Capability Procedure) 
• May take whatever corrective action they deem reasonable at the time to reduce risk to people, the environment, or property. 

Requirements 

Education and professional credentials: 
- 3-year Full Time Degree in Health and Safety or 3-year Full Time Degree in Health and Safety 
- A Level 4 or higher qualification in Training and Assessment 
- Preferred qualifications in high-risk tradecrafts such as lifting and rigging, crane operations, forklift operations, working at heights, working in confined spaces, and so on. 

- 4 - 6 years of experience in the training and certification profession, with at least 2 years in heavy industry - At least 3 years of Learning & Development experience, preferably with a registered training organization that provides vocational educational training 
- Solid understanding of Office and web applications - Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills  
- Excellent written and spoken English
